Travel in 2021 was like a box of chocolates. You never knew what you were going to get. However, we were all excited to just be able to travel again, even if there were limitations and restrictions. We had to research whether we needed a COVID-19 test to enter certain countries, whether we needed a COVID-19 test to re-enter the USA, and what documents or insurance were required to enter the various countries. Even with all of the additional requirements, we traveled to Akumal, Cancun, NYC, Los Cabos, St. Martin, Myrtle Beach, Pompano Beach, Atlanta, and Punta Cana. We decided to go to some places where we had been and also explore a few new places. We wanted to continue to expand our travel experience even in these difficult times. We realized more than ever that life is short and we need to live each day to the fullest. So many good people are no longer with us and our condolences are with their families! As a testament to those we have lost, we are celebrating life in our own way. We are living our best lives - laughing, loving, and traveling.
The places we had visited before that we visited in 2021 are all on our "place for me" list. We love Cancun, NYC, Myrtle Beach, Atlanta, and Punta Cana. We enjoyed these places yet again. We stayed on the resort in Cancun and Punta Cana to be as safe as possible and excursions were not running. However, we had a great time at the Beach in Cancun and we had a wonderful group trip to Punta Cana. In Punta Cana, to be safe, we all got our booster shots and tested before going to Punta Cana. While there, we took an excursion on a private bus and privately chartered catamaran to be able to control who was in our personal space. Part of our travel business now includes planning group trips. In NYC, we had a very different trip than normal in April. We did all of the tourist things that we had never done. We went to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the One World Center. There were no lines and very few people even for the mostly outdoor events (Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island). It was so much fun. In December, we went back to NYC to go to some amazing Broadway shows. However, Omicron was raging and all of our shows were canceled. Like I said, traveling in 2021 was like a box of chocolates. You never knew what you were going to get. Myrtle Beach and Atlanta were enjoyable as always. Restaurants were open and time with family is always great!
The new places we visited were amazing! We truly enjoyed Akumal. We had fun in St. Martin and we liked Los Cabos. In Akumal, we swam with the sea turtles which was an amazing experience. In Akumal, you can swim with turtles right off of the shore of the beach. There are a number of different species of sea turtles and the guides are very good. You must have a guide to swim out to the turtles even though they are right off shore. In St. Martin, we enjoyed visiting the Dutch side of the island, but we stayed on the French side of the Island at a lovely resort, Secrets St. Martin. I highly recommend that you visit. The manager of the resort and his wife are MAGNIFICENT! Cabo San Lucas was nice and we had a great time. However, I can say it is not on the top of my list to visit again. The water is very cold. but it is a beautiful place that was on my bucket list. I am very glad that we stayed at the Breathless in Cabo which has The Arch of Cabo San Lucas as its backyard. You are literally right across from the Arch when you lay on the beach. We took a private yacht ride while in Cabo and enjoyed it very much (even though the water was extremely choppy).
All in all, we had another great travel year. Travel is such an important part of our life together and is critical to our enjoyment of life. I am so grateful to be able to plan group trips again and document our life through travel. So, we thank God for the ability to travel again. Mostly though, we thank God for keeping us healthy and safe, both physically and mentally. We pray that God continues to bless and keep you and your family also!!
Laugh, Love, and Travel!!
